Matter Boxes of Stuff

Luckily our friend and local designer Douglas Wilson, sent us (Departika) one of his Blind Boxes last year. It was stocked full of great stuff that he finds interesting, he has good taste. Matter translate the same premise to direct marketing by sending out boxes of “interesting stuff”. Really they are filled with brand schwag, fun junk mail in a sense. The Matter Box is based on the premise that companies can better introduce themselves by giving you stuff they “hope” you like. Second only to the fun stuff I get from Veer, Matter Boxes seem to be next in line for the best box of junk mail ever. That of course is based on the assumption that I get one. Sign up here for the summer shipment.
Matter says, “Matter is a new and unique idea in communications that brings companies and people together around real, physical stuff–things you can hold in your hands, keep in your drawer, or give to your friends. It’s a new way for companies to introduce themselves by giving you something you might like.”
I admit, receiving a box of random stuff via snail mail is a nice surprise and pretty fun to get. I like this idea and it seems like an engaging unexpected way to get branded crap in the hands of an audience. We’ll see what kind of stuff is inside if it arrives this summer. More info at Matter.
